Five international cricketers who married Indian women

It is often said, “Marriage is where life begins and love never ends.” There are no boundaries to get into marriage. Shaun Tait and Mashoom Singha

Australian renowned speedster Shaun Tait has tied the knot with an Indian model Mashoom Singha. The couple is known to have dated each other at an after-party during the Indian Premier League (IPL). After dating for some time, the couple believed they were destined for each other. They got married to each other in 2014, and the wedding took place in Mumbai. Famous Indian Cricketing faces Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan were also among the attendees at the marriage ceremony.

Muttiah Muralitharan and Madhimalar Ramamurthy

Sri Lankan legendary spinner Muralitharan, whose unorthodox delivery made him one of the greatest Cricketers in the world. The man of mystery got married to Chennai-born Madhimalar Ramamurthy in March 2005. The story was different as Murali was strictly against getting married and wanted to concentrate more on Cricket. His mother was one of the key ones who convinced him to get married. After that Murali flew down to Chennai in November 2004 to meet Madhimalar and got married.

Zaheer Abbas and Rita Luthra

Zaheer Abbas is considered one of the finest Batters Pakistan has ever produced. Throughout his career, he played 78 Test matches and 62 ODIs and scored 7634 runs for Pakistan. He had also bagged a County contract from Gloucestershire in the 1980s. When he was in the United Kingdom to play in the County Championship, he met Rita Luthra who was studying interior design in the same area. Eventually, Both of them fell for each other and then tied the knot in 1988.

Later, Rita changed her religion and changed her name to Samina Abbas as they are living happily in Karachi now.

Sir Vivian Richards and Nina Gupta

West Indies batting legend Vivian Richards was also first married to an Indian Woman as he got into marriage twice. His first marriage was to Indian actress Neena Gupta. Their romance in the 1980s was one of the most talked-about stories in the cricket and Bollywood circles. However, their relationship eventually ended. The couple had a daughter, Masaba Gupta, who is now a well-known fashion designer.

After parting ways with Neena, Vivian Richards married Miriam Richards.

Glenn Maxwell and Vini Raman

Another recent name comes from Glenn Maxwell who tied the knot with an Indian woman named Chennai-born Vini Raman, a Melbourne-based Pharmacist. Maxwell and Vini Raman both got married in March 2022. The marriage ceremony was special and reflected a diverse cultural combination as it included both Christian and traditional Tamil Brahmin rituals.
