The man of mystery got married to Chennai-born Madhimalar Ramamurthy in March 2005. The story was different as Murali was strictly against getting married and wanted to concentrate more on Cricket. Zaheer Abbas and Rita Luthra

He had also bagged a County contract from Gloucestershire in the 1980s. When he was in the United Kingdom to play in the County Championship, he met Rita Luthra who was studying interior design in the same area. Later, Rita changed her religion and changed her name to Samina Abbas as they are living happily in Karachi now.
